Co-Fin: client register and compliance calendar for accounting practices

Co-Fin is a client register and compliance calendar built for South African accounting practices. It holds every client's registrations and engaged services, works out each filing deadline from the client's year end, and shows every staff member the returns they're responsible for.

It has been in daily use at an accounting practice since October 2026.

An accounting practice lives by its deadlines.

When the client register lives in spreadsheets, every deadline depends on someone remembering it. Co-Fin replaces those spreadsheets with one secure system of record for clients, engaged services, staff assignments and statutory filing deadlines.

  • One register of record. Legal form, SARS, CIPC, UIF and customs registrations, contacts, year end and engaged services are captured once and kept current by the people who work with the client.
  • Every due date calculated. Co-Fin holds fifteen South African filing rules as data and works out each client's due dates from their year end and engagement window.
  • A calendar per person. Each staff member sees every return due in the month for the clients they look after. Late returns are flagged, and every completion records who completed it and when.
  • Access follows responsibility. Staff can look up any client in the firm-wide register, while their calendar, returns and reports show only their assigned work. Partners and administrators see the whole practice.
  • Notes with reminders. A dated client note can carry a reminder that lands on the right people's calendar.
  • Gaps surfaced early. Administration views list unassigned work and clients missing the details their deadlines depend on, before they turn into missed returns.
  • Management reporting. Workload and completion charts sit alongside filtered Excel exports, all within each person's role.
  • Rule changes handled for you. When a filing rule changes, we update it in Co-Fin as data. Your team has nothing to install.

Ready for POPIA

Co-Fin is built on Microsoft Azure to the same standard as every CoVault application.

Data held in South Africa

All client data is stored in Microsoft's Azure South Africa North region.

Multi-factor sign-in

Staff sign in with their own email address and multi-factor authentication. No Microsoft 365 is required.

A database the internet can't reach

The database is network-restricted, and the application reaches it through Azure managed identity, so there are no passwords in the stack.

Access by assignment

Each person's calendar, returns and reports show only their assigned work. That rule is enforced in one place and covered by automated tests.
